Telling Stories. Building Relationships.

After 30+ years of specializing in the golf, hospitality, lifestyle and real estate industries, we’ve figured out who we are, and especially, who we’re not. We’re not one of those agencies with bean bag chairs, foosball tables, nap pods (although…), scooters or idea walls. We simply prefer a more traditional office environment that includes plenty of large-screen TVs usually tuned to the Golf Channel, and a putting green or two sprinkled around our office to tune up our weekend golf games.

From assistance with operations to market segmentation, big ideas to granular analysis and business consultation, Communication Links helps its clients push the creative envelope way past in-the-box cop-outs. In all our strategy sessions, the guiding theme is “how will this improve the business and brand?”

Our tight-knit team works big in a choreographed way without stepping on each other’s toes as we carry out a number of duties including public relations, marketing, graphic design, videography, content development, photography, special events, advertising, web development, email marketing and social media. We’re dedicated to our work, and we think better when we think together, and you’re always invited to the brainstorm! The team concept is a powerful thing. Put us on YOUR team today!

Dave Gilbertson

Founding Partner

Soon after graduating from college, Dave packed up and moved to the Valley of the Sun from chilly, mosquito-infested Minnesota. Since then he has amassed 37 years of experience in public relations, marketing and advertising, with the past 30 focused solely in the golf, real estate and hospitality industries. As the general manager of the firm, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations. Dave is a proud member of The Thunderbirds, serves on the board of directors for The First Tee of Phoenix as secretary and actively supports many civic-minded endeavors. At the end of the day, he can be found grilling on the patio or snuggling with his yellow and silver labs binge-watching the latest Netflix original.

Mike Petty

Founding Partner

A former golf pro, Mike has been involved in the golf industry for more than 30 years in Arizona. His broad experience ranges from washing golf carts to branding and marketing luxury golf communities. In addition to pitching in with day-to-day chores, he is a highly regarded counselor and advisor to our many clients. He also is largely responsible for managing the agency’s financial health and new business development. Mike is very active in the community, serving on the board for many charitable organizations. When not at the office, he enjoys family time with his wife and three 20-something kids, when they are in town.

Jerry Rose

Vice President/Brand Management

Jerry has been with Communication Links from its beginning in 1993. He is accredited in public relations by the Public Relations Society of America and is a former board member of the organization. He specializes in media relations, brand development, familiarization trips and messaging, particularly with regards to Communication Links’ luxury golf and hospitality clients.

Jonathan Crist

Marketing Director

Jonathan – you can call him JC – is an Arizona native and ASU graduate who came to Communication Links in 2014 after hanging up his baseball spikes in favor of golf shoes. JC wears many hats around here including managing several clients, negotiating and managing ad buys, writing content and creating strategic integrated marketing communications plans. When he and his wife aren't playing with their two dogs, you can find JC watering his plants or working on his 18 handicap.

Jeff Locke

Associate

Jeff moved to the Valley from Wisconsin in 1985, and went on to earn a BA from Northern Arizona University. Once bitten by the golf bug, he spent a few years as an assistant pro at Grayhawk Golf Club before making his way to Communication Links in 2002. Now that he has a real job, Jeff manages a handful of clients in addition to pitching in whenever something needs to be thoroughly screwed up. When off the clock, he can be found spending time with his wife and two teenagers.

Andrea Minogue

Vice President/Creative Director

A Michigan native, Andrea graduated from the Kendall College of Art and Design with a BA in Visual Communications. She then spent nearly two years working in the graphic design field for a firm based in New Jersey. After coming to her senses, she moved to Scottsdale to take a position with Communication Links in 1999 where she helps the rest of us make everything look presentable. When not at the office whipping up a variety of visually appealing pieces, she enjoys traveling, reading and spending quality time with her husband, two teenage sons and dogs (not listed in any particular order).

Jim Martin

Chief Digital Officer

Jim joined the Communication Links team in 2008, bringing with him more 10 years in New York advertising agency and media companies, and more than 25 years of experience in Silicon Valley as a CEO in both technology media and the digital and Internet sectors at AOL/Netscape. He has also led venture capital- and private equity-backed companies. Jim's the mad scientist responsible for the digital transformation of Communication Links from the analog world, and pushing the company into the digital universe. On the rare occasion when he’s not plugged in, he can be found teeing it up weekends with his regular four-ball or managing long honey-do lists created by his better half.

Andrew Columbro

Digital Communications Associate

Andrew Columbro, originally from Seattle, traded rainy days for sunshine and pitchforks to graduate a Sun Devil with a public relations and strategic communication degree from ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. The way sports bring people together drives his enthusiasm for the industry, and growing up in a golf family, the game has always been a huge part of his life. Some of his best memories were made on the golf course with his dad and grandpa. When he’s not at work writing copy, posting something to social media or any number of marketing and public relations tasks, Andrew enjoys golf, watching sports, working out and stand-up comedy shows.

Mikal Stevens

Digital Content Manager

Mikal (pronounced the usual way) doesn’t remember a time when he wasn’t creating something. After earning a business degree at Texas Tech University, he worked in marketing, media, and communications and loved being the guy behind the scenes making the stuff. He and his wife left the windiest city in the country – Amarillo, Texas, not Chicago – for calm skies in the Valley. If he’s not at work, check the nearest golf course.
