Waste Management Donates 140,000 Golf Balls to JGAA; Celebrates with Hole-in-One Contest

Waste Management and the JGAA will kick off the Thunderbird Junior Classic with a Hole-in-One Contest using donated golf balls from the 2013 Waste Management Phoenix Open tournament. Competing junior golfers, pros and attendees will have a chance to chip the donated balls into Waste Management recycling bins. Contest winner will receive Member’s Passes to the 2014 Waste Management Phoenix Open. Waste Management has donated all 140,000 golf balls that were used to assemble the floating logo in the lake at the 18th Hole of the TPC Scottsdale during the 2013 WMPO. These balls would have otherwise been thrown away, but will now be reused by the JGAA, a non-profit that provides, fosters and supports comprehensive golf programs for youth in Arizona.

ABOUT JUNIOR GOLF ASSOCIATION OF ARIZONA

Founded in 1983, the Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA) is a non-profit organization that introduces Arizona’s youth to the game of golf and helps junior golfers develop golf and life skills through competitive programs and tournaments. In addition to developing programs at schools and assisting Arizona golf courses with their junior programs, the JGAA conducts more than 100 programs and activities, including etiquette clinics, tournaments, and college prep seminars throughout Arizona each year. The JGAA awards two scholarship funds annually to high school senior members of the JGAA for their college education – the Tres Arnold and the John Wolfinger Memorial College Scholarships.
