CL Helps Scottsdale CVB Launch New Golf Initiative
Scottsdale is putting some star power behind its tagline as “The World’s Finest Golf Destination,” announcing that the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau has entered into a multi-year agreement with Golf Channel personality Brandel Chamblee to serve as the destination’s official “golf ambassador.”
In this role, Chamblee, who played on the PGA TOUR for 18 years prior to joining Golf Channel, will represent the destination in a new advertising campaign targeted to avid golf travelers. In addition, he’ll write a regular blog for the bureau’s new golf-focused website, www.ilovescottsdalegolf.com; represent the destination on multiple social media platforms; and serve as the spokesperson for Scottsdale golf. All of these elements will work together to present the “total Scottsdale experience” ranging from more than 200 golf courses in the area to the multiple world-class resorts, spas, nightlife opportunities, restaurants, cultural activities, outdoor adventures and more. All of these assets combine to make Scottsdale “The World’s Finest Golf Destination.”
“This was a very easy yes for me,” said Brandel. “I love Scottsdale, and I particularly love Scottsdale golf. In truth there are many great places to play golf around the world. But, when you factor in the quantity and quality of courses, the beauty of the desert, the consistently perfect weather and all the fun there is to be had off the course, no one else comes close to Scottsdale for my money. Look at it this way, I work in Florida, but I choose to live in Scottsdale. What more of an endorsement do you need?”
In the new advertising campaign, Brandel explains his “rules” for playing golf in Scottsdale, which takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to Scottsdale golf, highlighting fun to be had both on and off the course. The new golf-oriented website (www.ilovescottsdalegolf.com) and social media elements launched at the end of July. The print and broadcast ads will debut this fall.
